TODAY marks an important milestone in the history of Central Queensland’s education sector.
After much planning and lobbying we finally see the merger of CQUniversity and CQ TAFE.
Congratulations to all parties and let’s hope this is the start of a wonderful relationship, which continues to deliver for this region.
It is innovative ideas like this that we need to keep our region pushing ahead.
This new model of post-school education has been developed because of the unique set of needs our region faces.
As the university’s Vice-Chancellor and president Scott Bowman has previously said the merger “will unlock the region’s potential to respond more quickly and effectively to the education and training demands in our own backyard”.
More than ever we need a holistic approach to education that works with industry and provides bright futures for our youth and those wanting to get jobs.
School leavers today don’t have to go to Brisbane or Townsville to get the best education.
Both CQUniversity and CQ TAFE have proud histories of developing highly skilled graduates.
But like all forward-thinking organisations they saw the opportunities that were created through change.
The challenges of the modern world demand leaders who think outside the box and put together solutions which fit the unique circumstances.
The days of one size fits all are long gone. We are blessed in CQ to have forward thinkers at the helm.
