The Symons family owned the Eulbertie Park plantation (the original name for the land now occupied by Plantation Palms) for over 100 years, working it for sugar cane and cattle.  The late Rob Symons saw Mackay growing steadily and had a firm belief his land would one day turn to urban use. It was well located on the expanding northern beaches, within easy reach of Mackay and the Whitsundays not far away.

When the investor/developer team of Paul Ramsay and Kim Clarke first walked over the land, they were struck by its untapped potential and raw beauty – its gently rolling topography offered views, sea breezes and unique variations to the development’s built form.

   

Paul has a strong ongoing association with regional Australia, having major interests in the media and health sectors. Paul immediately saw Mackay’s strengths as a provincial centre, a thriving agricultural sector and an expanding mining industry.


Kim has a consuming passion for good development. He believes it is not just about subdivision but about creating genuine places to live, learn and grow - as individuals within their community. Kim also has a deep love of the environment. His vision was immediate; he wanted to create a quality community with great streets and parks, while setting a new benchmark in Mackay.



The site is a former cane plantation nestled between the Eulbertie Park ridge and McCready’s Creek, covering approximately 347 hectares. Remnants of this working history such as the farmhouse, sheds and stock pen remain and will be integrated into new development where possible. The gently undulating topography consists of open paddocks with occasional remnant native trees, many of which will either be retained in new parks or transplanted.

The freshwater and estuary landscape on the lower portions of the site offer the new development a high value visual and environmental resource. The primary access point into the site will be via Eimeo Road.
